For two long years, Ceraphin sat in a crowded shelter in Metamora, Mexico. Picked up as a tiny puppy, he never knew the comfort of a soft bed, the joy of a belly rub, or the warmth of a loving family. Life passed him by from behind kennel bars—until now.

Ceraphin is a 2-year-old Hound mix with the kindest eyes and a quiet, tender spirit. The world is still a little scary for him, and new surroundings can make him nervous—but who can blame him? He’s never known anything beyond survival.

He’s most at peace outdoors, where he feels free to run, sniff, and stretch his legs with his doggy friends. Inside the home is still a new and strange place for him, but he’s learning. Every day, he takes a brave little step forward. He’s learning that rugs aren’t scary, that treats are delicious, and that gentle hands mean kindness, not fear.

Ceraphin gets along beautifully with other dogs and has a sweet curiosity toward cats and kids. He’ll quietly watch children play, tilting his head as if trying to understand their joy. He wants to feel that too—he just doesn’t know how yet.
